I have always loved being at home, taking time for myself and dodging social events, but when it is forced on you because of a worldwide pandemic, it’s not so easy.
At the beginning for the first few weeks I felt like a quarantine queen, I was up early, exercising, looking after myself and now, not so much. It seems being at home all the time really doesn’t do much for your “routine”.
I haven’t written anything in over a month and realistically, there is nothing to talk about - life is seditary, going nowhere fast.
This is me making the conscious effort to try and sort my life out. I need to be busy - not with anything mad, but I always need to be doing something/aiming for something or I just run out of juice. And once I’m out of juice, it takes me a lot to get started again. I thought a good way to start would be listing all of the things I am grateful for during this shit storm we call 2020.
A reminder of life’s good stuff:
I am grateful for my family
Spending all my days at home having Terri crawling into my bed most mornings, talking to my mum and dad more. Even seeing Lee more even though he sleeps most of the day.
Any extra time I steal with my bunch of nutters is a blessing, who’d of thought a pandemic would bring us so many happy memories.
I am grateful for my work
I am currently working from home, and although it isn’t always easy to get motivated, it’s giving me a reason to get out of bed on a morning and some purpose. I can’t imagine how difficult it is for those who have uncertainty surrounding their job security at this time.
I am grateful for my boyfriend
It has been 9 weeks since I last seen my boyfriend, the longest we have been apart in the 6 years we have been together. And it is shit. I know we are not seeing each other for all the right reasons, but I am grateful that after all of this there will be a time when we are snuggled up with a McDonald’s. What dreams are made of.
I am grateful for my friends
Don‘t get me wrong I don’t have that many, but it’s quality not quantity and well my girls are the best you can get.
I can tell them anything, text them any time and they are there. We may not have seen each other for a while but that is what is so great about having good friends, you don’t have to see them all the time to know how much you love and support each other, you just have to reply to their Instagram stories and tell them the amount of online shopping they’re doing is acceptable.
I am grateful for my surroundings
if there is one thing that has got me through this the most, it’s walking. I have always loved a lonely walk around somewhere pretty but something about being confined in your home with the same people 24/7 makes you appreciate it so much more. Whether I’m out for an hour or two, or just 10 minutes, it really resets your mind and they do say fresh air does you good.
There is so much I am grateful for. Sometimes when you focus on the negative you forget that.
STAY SAFE AND WASH YOUR HANDS
